One of my recent wonderful weddings has taken me to the beautiful Buxted Park Hotel to tell the wedding day story of Rob and Tracie. A beautiful location for a wedding; sumptuous rooms and glorious grounds - plenty of space and magnificent food. Tracie prepared in the glorious 'Blue and Gold' Room which is set upstairs overlooking the long avenue of parkland leading away from the hotel. I found Tracie and her bridal party preparing there, by sound before I could see them....
I arrived early as usual and was scouting the grounds preparing for the day, my walk taking me along the lower pathway by the lake and bringing me up through the trees at the far end of the grassed avenue. I looked down the park towards the hotel and started walking down towards it. There was a bit of dew in the grass and a bit of a gentle mist still lingering near the trees. As I got closer I could see that the upper windows were open and then I could hear them. Laughing. Loudly. Up until this point, I fancied that I may look a little like Mr Darcy, appearing from the distance, striding purposefully towards the manor house. But no, this laughter killed all that. I felt a bit daft and made my way upstairs, introducing myself to those in the party that I hadn't met before. It appears that despite my personal thoughts on how I looked, the bridesmaids thought that I was a drunken guest from the wedding the previous day, that had awoken under the trees and was making my way back to the hotel..... Oh well.
Still - this set the tone for the day. It was a lovely, romantic, laughter and fun filled occasion - with music, eating, drinking and dancing all day long. The sun shone brightly despite some threatening looking clouds rolling in - and they even found time to go dinosaur hunting.....
